WHSLA Election - Candidates for 2021 open board positions

WHSLA Members in good standing will be invited to vote on four open 2021 Board positions:

  • One President-Elect
  • One Secretary
  • Two Board Members-at-Large

All members in good standing will receive an email the week of November 30 with their invitation to vote.

President Elect Candidate:

Kathy Koch, MLIS, AHIP


 Past Experience: I have been a medical librarian at Advocate Aurora Health since November 2016, and my job responsibilities focus on reference and instruction. I also have 15 years’ experience as an archivist. My MLIS is from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and I received my AHIP credential in 2018. 

Past experience/degrees:  I am currently helping to plan the WHSLA 2021 meeting and serving on the Midwest Chapter/MLA Fundraising Committee. My previous professional activities include the Midwest Chapter/MLA Professional Development Committee, the WHSLA/SWHSL planning committee for the 2019 joint meeting with Midwest Chapter/MLA, and numerous committee positions with the Midwest Archives Conference


Secretary Candidate:

 Eileen Severson, MLIS

 

Current experience:  Supervisor, Library & Patient Education Services, Gundersen Health System, 2008-present

Past experience/degrees:  Electronic Resources Librarian, Gundersen Health System, 2001-2007. Youth Outreach Librarian, La Crosse Public Library, 2000-2001.  BS, Microbiology, 1995. MLIS, 2000.

Information about myself: What I enjoy about being a librarian:  The amazing, talented, and creative people I get to work with and learn from.

 

 Board Member at Large Candidates:  


Dora Davis, MLIS


 Current Experience: I am the current Professional Development Coordinator for WHSLA and past Midwest Chapter State Rep. 

Past Experience/Degrees: I worked as the solo part time librarian at ProHealth Care for over 7 years until the library was permanently closed last spring. Prior to working in libraries I was an operations manager for a major retailer. My MLIS is from UW-Milwaukee.   

Information about Myself:  I live with my husband and three boys who keep me busy, but when I have time I like to knit and read and participate in a health equity book club with the non-profit PatientsRWaiting. 

 

Brenda Fay, MLIS, BA


Librarian Specialist at Advocate Aurora Library

Past experience/degrees: I’ve worked as a librarian since 2000, having positions at Milwaukee Public Library, North Shore Library, and Aurora/Advocate Aurora Health. My undergraduate degree is in Conservation Biology.

Information about myself: I’m enjoying new episodes of The Mandalorian with my family. “This is the way!” My current nighttime reading is the Anita Sundstrom series by Torquil MacLeod. I really like traveling and was able, despite COVID, to visit Bemidji, MN and the headwaters of the Mississippi this summer.
